Are You Truly in Control of Your Lifestyle?

Most of us believe we have a solid understanding of our habits, until we take a step back and recognize the patterns we follow. Are we consistent, or just reactive? Are we pushing too hard, or not hard enough? Do we have a structured approach, or are we just making it up as we go?

In a world full of well-being advice, it’s easy to fall into the trap of following generic strategies that don’t quite fit. The truth is, no single approach works for everyone. That’s why I’m exploring the idea of a 'Lifestyle Typology Assessment', a tool designed to help people understand how they naturally approach movement, recovery, nutrition, and resilience.

But before taking this further, I want to test the concept and gather feedback.

Why Does This Matter?

We all have our own way of navigating well-being, performance, and resilience. Some people thrive on structure and careful planning, while others respond best to spontaneity. Some need external motivation, while others are self-driven.

Recognizing these patterns isn’t just about self-awareness, it’s about finding ways to use your strengths effectively and address any blind spots that might be holding you back.

This assessment is designed to help uncover:

  • How you naturally approach well-being and resilience

  • The areas where you feel in control and where you might struggle

  • Small, realistic changes that could make a lasting impact

It’s about working with your nature rather than against it.

The Six Lifestyle Typologies

Through my research, I’ve identified six distinct lifestyle tendencies. These aren’t strict categories, they’re more like blueprints that help explain the way people engage with their own well-being.

The Endurer:

You push through discomfort and thrive in adversity. You’re mentally and physically tough, but you often overlook recovery, which can lead to burnout.

The Strategist:

You plan carefully, think long-term, and take a structured approach. While this helps you stay on track, it can sometimes lead to hesitation or overthinking when decisions need to be made.

The Firestarter:

You’re full of energy and enthusiasm. When you commit to something, you go all in, but maintaining consistency over the long run can be a challenge.

The Maintainer:

You’ve built a stable, healthy routine and feel in control of your well-being. The challenge? Without pushing yourself further, growth and progression may slow down.

The Overthinker:

You have a deep understanding of well-being and resilience strategies, but putting them into action is another story. You may find yourself overanalyzing and delaying progress.

The Reactor:

You respond well to pressure and can rise to a challenge when needed. The difficulty is maintaining those habits consistently when there’s no immediate external push.

These are still early-stage ideas, and I want to know if this concept resonates with people.

Is This Worth Developing? I’d Love Your Thoughts

I’m currently exploring whether this assessment could be a valuable tool, and I want to test it with real people before refining it further.

Right now, I’m looking for people who would be open to:

  • Receiving an early version of the assessment to explore their lifestyle type

  • Sharing their honest feedback on whether it was insightful or useful

  • Helping shape and refine the concept so that it’s genuinely practical

This isn’t about putting people into boxes, it’s about recognizing patterns and understanding how to make well-being fit your lifestyle, rather than forcing yourself into an approach that doesn’t work.

If this sounds interesting, I’d love to hear from you. Your input will help determine whether this becomes something worth developing further.

Send me a message, drop a comment, or just let me know if you’d be open to giving it a try. This assessment is available in English and Dutch.
